My Erasmus+ Long Term Individual Mobility in Darmstadt
From 12 April 2026 to 13 May 2026, I, Gaia Tononi, a student of the 3DS class, took part in an Erasmus+ mobility program in Darmstadt, Germany. During this period, I completed a long term mobility study in the Count+Care department of Entega, which turned out to be a valuable experience for both my technical growth and personal development.

While abroad, I stayed with two local host families who welcomed me warmly and made me feel comfortable right away. They helped me adjust to daily life in Germany and introduced me to local traditions, food, and places. Living with them also gave me many opportunities to practice the language in real situations and become more confident in communication.
During my project based learning at Entega, I worked on several software development tasks using the tools and resources available in the lab. The experience helped me improve my programming skills and gain a better understanding of how different technologies are used in real projects.
I developed interactive web applications, which strengthened my knowledge of front-end structure, application logic, and user interaction. I also explored basic concepts of artificial intelligence and machine learning by working on a hand gesture recognition system using MediaPipe and experimenting with a simple chatbot based on emotional context.
In addition, I created a terminal-based note-taking application using Go and SQLite, which improved my understanding of backend logic, data storage, and command-line interfaces. Throughout the internship, I mainly focused on designing interfaces, structuring application logic, and combining different components into working systems.
Overall, this experience helped me improve my problem-solving skills, become more confident in programming, and better understand how software projects are developed in a professional environment.
The workplace atmosphere was very supportive and well-organized. Colleagues and tutors were always available, which made the learning process easier and more engaging. They also valued individuality and personal initiative, allowing each student to manage tasks in their own way. Working in this environment helped me develop not only technical knowledge but also teamwork and adaptability.
Overall, this Erasmus+ experience represented an important step in my personal and academic journey. I improved my language abilities, strengthened my technical skills, and had the chance to meet many new people. Most importantly, I learned how to adapt to a different culture and work environment, which made the experience both challenging and rewarding.
