Erasmus+ Viruskenner - Knowledge as antivirus Project - 2024/25 Edition - Kick-Off Event

On 10 January 2025 at ITT Buonarroti the Kick-Off Meeting for the Erasmus+ Viruskenner International Project was held, marking the beginning of an exciting new experience in the discovery of infectious diseases, awareness and prevention. This initiative brought together students and teachers from 4 classes - 1DS, 2E, 2P and 2R - fostering a global collaboration to explore solutions for preventing the spread of diseases.

The event began with a Masterclass led by the project founder, Dr Eric van Gorp from Erasmus University Hospital in Rotterdam about Viruses, routes of transmission and emerging infectious diseases. The session culminated with Valéry van Gorp outlining the Viruskenner program. Students were introduced to the tools and resources available, including an internet platform, e-learning modules, and the availability of online coaches.

In closing, participants were inspired by these words:
“We are excited to see the creativity and innovation you will bring to this project. By collaborating with peers in international groups, you will not only explore practical solutions for preventing infectious diseases but also develop valuable skills in English, digital communication, and global citizenship. Let this be a journey of growth, connection, and meaningful impact.” (Prof. Eric van Gorp)

Thus the challenge is set: students will design innovative products to combat the spread of infectious diseases, contributing to a healthier, safer future for all.
